Baby Gray's checkup
Grayson had lost quite a bit of weight since his birth, so the doctors were having us weigh him 2 times a week. He gained 2/3 of a lb in 2 days and on Monday he was back to birth weight! I am so relieved and hopefully this means the doctors will not make us come in so often. Today he had his 2 week check up and they had to do a heel prick. The docs say all looks great and our next appointment is at his 2 month checkup. He will be getting shots then :( He did really well during the heel prick so hopefully the shots go well too! :)

Sleep/Routine Gone are the days of 8 hours of continous sleep. I use to think..why in the world does every single person tell me to nap when I can and sleep as much as I can before the baby came? Oh, now I know why. Little G is what people would call a "good baby" ( we think he is the best in the world but that is beside the point). He never woke us to eat and could sleep some pretty long stretches. We quickly learned that just because he can sleep a while, does not mean that he should and we really have to wake him to eat. We had to go to a 2 1/2 hour- 3 hour feed schedule this past week. This was not fun because sometimes it took him about an hour to eat which gave us an 1 hr and 1/2 between feeds. He is now on his own schedule because he is back to birth weight, and does much better about letting us know when he is hungry. He has already grown and changed so much since his birth. He is really starting to fill out his clothes and car seat better too!
no matter how tight we swaddle him and put those arms in (we double swaddle him being he has 2 baby straight jackets made out of blankets...he still is able to get those arms out)
Routine At night, Matt and I were/are trying to give each other a 4-5 hour stretch of sleep. It is amazing what that feels like after only getting 1 1/2-2. I try to let Matt sleep throughout the night since I can nap really whenever I want during the day, but Matt usually insists on waking up and feeding him. It is totally adorable and I am so thankful to have such an amazing partner in parenting. Matt has been so fantastic with Grayson and such an amazing support system for me. Kudos to all the single parents out there; I do not know how you do it.
Granny has arrived- Granny Oye has arrived! Grayson is getting way too spoiled :) It has been great having her here. She is so good with him and I have learned a lot. She has helped around the house and it has been fun enjoying my sweet little man with my mom.
1st day Granny got here

Announcements
Our friend Janie took his Newborn pictures! I will load them soon! I have also ordered his birth announcements! If you do not receive one within the month, please let me know and I will make sure I get one to you! They are too cute!!
Red Team Dinner
We had our monthly group dinner. We hosted it again. Unfortunately, the food was not the best (we got a catered meal). My mom offered to cook, but we had already arranged the caterer. We learned a valuable lesson; just because we like a place to eat (local farmer's market) does not mean we will like the meal. Oh well! We are thinking sushi next week!
Thanksgiving
My friend Kristin hosted a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner. Her and my friend Taylor cooked. They just invited the 3 of us to come. It was super yummy and it was nice to get out of the house. It was our first family outing besides going for check ups to the hospital.
Matt's minutes
Matt went back to work this week. It is his clinic week and since I have the support of my mom, we both agreed that him working would be great. I feel very lucky that his program is family friendly. They are allowing him to have disjointed paternity leave. Once both my parents leave, he will have 2 weeks off with me. His parents then come the week of Christmas. I basically have a month and a 1/2 of support and I am very grateful. I know I could do it alone, but having the help/support/company has been SOOO nice.
Matt finishing up some work while spending time with little Gray
Here is Matt's update: I have gone back to work for two weeks before I take my official paternity leave. The first week will be clinic seeing some of my primary patients as well as working in a HIV clinic and a special chronic pain clinic. The second week is going to be gastroenterology consults at the main hospital. It has been a little difficult going back to work because I do not want to leave Tammy and Grayson and also the reduced sleep makes things difficult as well. I have been trying to do a early morning feed for Grayson so that Tammy can get longer stretches of continuous sleep but sometimes this also has reduced my sleep even further. Still, it has been great to have some special bonding time in the middle of the night with my guy.
I have to say that the process of labor and taking care of this new little guy has really been amazing. Tammy has done such a great job and has really worked hard to be a great mom. I find that I lover her more every day and I really enjoy watching her as a mother. She is great and a real natural at motherhood.
