June 2014

Wow has the time flown by!

I cannot believe it has been months since I have last posted!

Updates:
Grayson
Mr G is growing like a weed and is in size 3t clothing. I was hoping he would still be wearing some 3t this fall (I bought some winter clothing last winter) but it seems as though he may be in size 4 by then! Who knows!

He is talking a machine now! Some of his new words include phrases like: "did it" "here it is" "What's that"
words include: mine, hello, baby, big bird, Henry, Nona (Nora), Ernie, lights, boon (balloon), skype, Yie yie (for my mom), Stacie/Stacy (babysitter and henry's mom) bye and blowing a kiss ...
He signs the word please in addition to all done and more.

He is now transitioning more into signing less and saying things. Instead of saying all done, I ask if he is all done and he says, "yah" and nods.

It is amazing what a little parrot he is. He will attempt new words daily and say them so clearly. He also knows animal sounds of a horse, monkey, dog, cat, and cow. His daddy has taught him to make a spiderman sound and he points all over the place saying "sqush". It is adorable and mind blowing what a little boy he is. I do not know where our baby has gone, but am so please with what a sweet and loving boy we have.

Grayson has been enjoying some amazing playdates with his buddy Henry. I am not sure if I have posted about him before, but his mom, Stacie, goes to my Zumba class. We met up one Monday for a playdate and have started a little tradition of meeting up on Mondays and usually a couple more times throughout the week. She works full time, so we do not get to hang out more often.  She is a wonderful friend to me and our boys get along great. Henry is 3 months older than G :)

Grayson had a minor running/falling accident. He was running from his Leiloni's house and face planted. We were worried he broke his nose, but it has healed nicely. His little legs are so beat up, but typical boy...none of these things have slowed him down.

We have made it to OMSI and the children's museum. Grayson loves playing with water (we bought him a water table too) however, he likes to drink the water! ICK!

Grayson also had an extremely rare breakout of shingles/chicken pox. His pediatrician wants to call it a mild case of chicken pox, but Matt really thinks it is shingles since it stayed on one dermatone and did not spread. I hope he never has another break out! Poor guy! He was vaccinated.

Elmo- Grayson loves him some Elmo...hence the theme of his 2nd bday party

Let's call him Mr. Personality: Grayson is so sweet and hilarious. He loves to make people laugh and is learning to say please and thank you without being told first! Not bad for a 19 month old! He loves to be silly and run around!

Grayson says Hi-ya when he hits the ball...it is adorable

He is Mr. Personality until he is just so sleep he cannot take it. He fell asleep in my bed, when he wasnt feeling well on the left, and he split his eyebrow open at a friend's house on a corner table  (this was the car ride home...I think he drew until he passed out) :(

Mr. Independent- Grayson still loves to eat and feed himself...he only occasionally allow you to feed him. If he refuses to eat something, we add some "dip dip" bbq sauce and he will devour it! A true Texan!

I have been really busy with all things Grayson, social gatherings, and Zumba. I am still teaching 4 times a week at the gym and Grayson has finally stopped crying when I drop him off. OMG! It has been over a year. I am so thankful he no longer cries. It use to cause me anxiety and I would feel so bad and selfish for leaving him. It is better for both of us to have some time apart, and for me to get a good workout in.

We have been enjoying the sun and meeting friends in the sun at the playground or in each other's backyards. I am part of a meetup group to meet other moms in the area, and I have met some awesome ladies.

I am looking forward to mom's mini retreat with Stacie. We are thinking about leaving in the morning (daddies will have the babies) and hitting the outlet malls and maybe a spa :) So excited. We were waiting for her to take and pass her counseling test and she did today! Yayy! Congrats girl! <3

Stacie and I ran a night 5K- we were supposed to meet up with my long time texas buddy cammie and her family, but we got there a little late! It was at night and super fun!!

Taylor- My friend that I met in Portland my first year here, then moved to Montreal this past year came to visit! It was so nice seeing her and Nora again and meeting her new baby Quinnton. Q Loved sleeping next to matt while he was working or being held to sleep! We just got word they are moving back to the states and will be in Miami! Hello beach!! <3

Matt
Matt is finishing his 2nd year and it is nuts to think he is about to finish residency. I support Matt in all of his journeys, but I am thankful he has decided to not pursue a fellowship. I would have supported him, but this journey has already been SOOO long, and him having a more regular schedule and seeing Grayson potentially morning and night is such a wonderful though. There have been times he has not seen Grayson for days because he has to be at work so early and gets off too late. After his last year of residency, he will be doing his chief year. During chief year, we will be applying to jobs, both in Oregon and elsewhere. He would ideally work for OHSU. I am open to whatever he feels he will flourish. I have developed some nice friendships and digging the places I teach zumba.

Matt has teamed up with one of his co-chiefs/ red firm friend (firms are what the residents are broken up into and all share the same clinic week). Leah and Matt have developed some videos to tutor interns on how to maneuver the software they use to document patient visits and follow ups. It walks them through auditory and visuals. I am so proud of him, and this just shows what an amazing teacher he is.

We just had his end of the year banquet, and Matt received two very prestigious awards. One was for excellence in teaching voted among his peers and supervisors, but he also won an award that only 4 people got and he was the only 2nd year resident :) Way to go Matt!

Date night at one of Portland's yummy restaurants:
Grayson daddy love:  I thank my lucky stars that I have such an amazing daddy for my son and hubby for me. He loves Grayson so much and I can see that love in Grayson's eyes returned <3 so thankful for the best hubby and daddy!

Easter: We spent Easter with our favorite family, the Larsons. We had a yummy brunch and the boys "hunted" for eggs. Grayson was far more interested in picking flowers than the eggs :/ maybe next year lol
